Mantra Monday and a little goal chat

This Monday is a little special. It's the last Monday of 2015 and 2016 is literally right around the corner. We're taking a little time to let you know what we want 2016 to be for us. We'll celebrate our 4th birthday this year and are so excited for the projects we have lined up (including the launch of our new shop, eeek!!).

If you follow us on Instagram, you may have noticed that a few of our #mantramonday posts have been about slowing down, narrowing our focus, and creating more of what we love vs. what everyone would want.

A while back, Kara and I were talking about re-branding and couldn't come up with anything. After a while we joked about how "our brand loves your brand". It's true, we both LOVE what other people are doing out there right now. As much as we love it, we realized that it's absolutely not what WE should be doing. We have to face it, neither one of us will ever be any good at calligraphy. (Which by the way was my 2014 resolution that has yet to be met).

2016 is the year where we'll do us. I can't even count how many times in the past year, I've been asked to make printables about a certain wintery ice queen or superhero. I also can't count how many times I've had to just say no. We want people to swoon over our creations, not try to pick which Disney invite was created best.

Now, to just explain this to my 3 year old who will probably be asking for an Avenger's party in the fall. . .

Our 2nd goal this year is to find our people. Whether that's fellow girl bosses who may need design help, or the every girl who just want Pinterest worthy prints and parties, we want to talk to you.

I just recently started joining in on twitter chats ( btw #creativecoffeehour and #fireandwindco are a couple of my fav's) at the end of this year, and realized how much fun it is to actually talk to people. We've spent the last 3 years sitting behind our computer desk's working away and haven't spent anytime actually getting to know people out there in the internet world.

In 2016, we want to get to know you! Community over competition everyone. We also want everyone to get to know US! You can start at our about page, but we'll also be better about sharing who we are this year.

Our last goal goes hand in hand with our first. After 3 years of spreading ourselves thin, it's finally time to realize that you ( or in this case, we) don't have to do everything. This year will be about getting help when needed, learning to turn projects down, and becoming more organized #girlbosses. Using tools like Buffer and Evernote have been my lifesaver at the end of this year, and I can only imagine how much better it will be after using them for a whole year.
